The Clayton County Run For Christ was held Sunday, October 16th on the Pony Hollow Trail. A crowd of 85 participants gathered for a competitive 5K & 10K run, a kids fun run, and a 5K walk. This ecumenical event was held to raise dollars for the youth programs of local Christian churches. Just over $1000 was raised for the programs in the following hosting churches: Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader; St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Elkader; Grace Evangelical Free, Elkader; Heart Catholic Church, Volga; Calvary Bible Church, Volga. Everyone who participated seemed to enjoy the day full of fun exercise and fellowship.
The Clayton County Run For Christ planning committee would like to thank each of the volunteers for their tremendous help in producing a very successful first time event. Thank you also to the great group of participants.

Local Christian churches are invited to help host an ecumenical 5K run/walk & 10K run in Elkader, at the Pony Hollow Trail on October 16, 2011. This event is specifically designed to raise money for their youth programs.
Hosting churches would qualify to receive funds if: they are Christian, have a youth program, and are located in Clayton County.
This event allows hosting churches to receive the profits of this walk/run. In return, they would be asked to help provide workers, food, and advertising in their parishes. Walk/run participants would be asked at the time of registration to select a local church in which to direct the profits of their registration, or they may choose to divide the profits equally among all churches. A minimum of 4 churches are needed for this event to occur.
Area churches interested in participating must register by filling out the application by August 31st .
